2011 vinyl LP repressing of the Australian Rock trio’s 2006 debut album. The band digs deep into the rock of the ’70s, and there’s inspiration to be found from Zeppelin, Sabbath, Soundgarden, Jethro Tull, Yes and Rush. There’s also inspiration from The White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age. It’s a bunch of bizarre amalgams, but it’s all still very charming, and their funk rock force indicates that this would be one heckuva live band. A promising beginning. 13 tracks. ABOUT THE ARTIST
Considering the ’60s psychedelic heavy metal sound which Wolfmother gained fame with in 2006 with their debut album ‘Wolfmother’, they could be called ‘a band out of time’. Andrew Stockdale, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett formed the band in 2000 and in 2004 they recorded a four-track demo so they could book shows. From then on the band shifted into a higher gear: a jump to the majors, the release of their eponymous self-titled debut album and a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2007. Music On Vinyl has given this release the special MOV-treatment resulting in a beautiful gatefold sleeve containing two coloured 180-grams audiophile LP’s.
